Message about the Coronavirus – COVID-19
As of June 2
We are planning to open for dual instruction on Monday, June 8th. We are very excited to see you all back! Covid-19 protocol details will be published on June 6th for all customers which will include updated operations in the office, in the airplane and for reservations.
Recurrent training: if you are waiting to get your recurrent (6-month) training scheduled, please call us soon to get on the schedule as there are quite a few pilots who are out of currency and we’d like to get everyone up to date soon!
A big thank you to those customers that have supported us over the last two months with solo rentals, on-line instruction, and simulator rentals. It’s been a tough time for all of us and we look forward to seeing you all back in the pilot seat.
Thank you so much.
As of May 27th
We are waiting to hear from Governor Baker’s office as to when we are allowed to open for dual instruction. We spearheaded a letter that was signed by over 15 flight schools in Massachusetts that was sent to the Governor’s office urging the Reopening Advisory Committee to add us to part of the Phase 1 businesses immediately. We have yet to hear back. We already have many safeguards in place to keep you safe during our flights and will send the details to you once we have the green light from the state. Please call us with any questions. Thanks for your support!
As of April 16th
As fellow aviators, we know that currency and proficiency are always at the top of mind for any conscientious pilot. We are also very cognizant of this not only for our instructor pilots, but also for our you, our valued client. The COVID-19 pandemic has certainly impacted our ability as aviators to stay both proficient and current. With this in mind we have taken the necessary steps to allow you the opportunity to utilize our aircraft in such a manner that you can abide by the state’s safety guidelines.
With new safety measures in place we’d like to offer you an opportunity to rent from either our KBED or KPYM locations. MassPort is aware that there is rental aircraft activity at KBED.
While we are monitoring the COVID-19 situation and adhering to social distancing rules, we have put in a place a few procedures so that there is no face-to-face contact with our customer service team unless absolutely necessary. We have taken every precaution to mitigate any transfer of the virus.
If you’d like to fly, feel free to book your rental as usual via our online scheduling service (Flight Schedule Pro FSP) or by calling us at 508-591-0889.
If you are past your 6 month recurrent training, please call us as FSP won’t allow you to schedule online. We will consider approval on a case by case basis. Once we return to normal operations we can schedule your recurrent training flight.
If you have a current student solo endorsement, please connect with your instructor to make a plan.
Rentals will be solo rentals only or with your immediate family.
Please make sure we know what time you expect to arrive. Aircraft will be ready for you on the ramp. Keys will be inside. You will not need to go in our office. Text or call (774) 404-5020 (KBED) or (617) 283-2464 (KPYM) upon arrival or prior to start up. We will not be using the log book binders for the time being. Make sure to make a note of the hobbs before start up so that you can fill in your logbook.
We have an addendum to our rental agreement which you will need to read and sign prior to your rental. Please read this thoroughly as it highlights the commitment between you and our team to operate the airplanes in a safe and responsible manner. If this has not been emailed to you already, please let us know and we can forward one to you.
These are the highlights:
- If you are flying with a solo endorsement and do not have a SIDA badge, you will still need an escort. Please advise our team so that they can coordinate this with you.
- Wear driving, latex, or similar type gloves during your flight.
- Use your own headset. No loaners will be available.
- After flight: Text a photo of (or call with) the hobbs and flight times, # of landings, and information as to whether TKS was used and if oil or fuel was added to (774) 404-5020 (KBED) or (617) 283-2464 (KPYM).
- Leave the keys in the airplane and depart.
- The MGAV customer service team will clean and sanitize aircraft after your rental.
- During the stay-in-place provision, your rentals should be planned with current fuel onboard. There are some airports that are not allowing pilots to disembark. Instrument approaches, full-stop and taxi back, and touch and gos are authorized at remote airports.
- Please keep in mind that safety overrides any provisions we have set forth above.
If you have any questions at all about these procedures, please give us a call. We are here for you.
As of April 3rd
Thanks so much to all who have reached out to us during this difficult time. We do hope that you are safe and healthy and will continue to be so over the next month.
As you probably already know, the stay at home provision of the state’s mandate has been extended through May 4th. As of right now, for the health and safety of you and our team, our plan is to remain closed until this provision is lifted.
As you know, the understanding of this virus changes from day to day. We are monitoring the situation continuously so you can be rest assured that as soon as it is safe to be back in the sky and enjoying our freedom to fly, we will ready to accommodate you.
If you do have a flight reservation before May 4th, it will be cancelled in our online system. You are welcome to rebook any flights starting on May 5th. Here is the link:

As of March 21st
As we all monitor the situation with the coronavirus (COVID‑19), we want you to know that when you fly with us your health and safety is our top priority. As a member of the Goulian family of customers, we appreciate the trust you place in us. We are taking steps to maintain our high standards of safety and cleanliness.
As you know, we clean our airplanes daily. Our team will be sanitizing all aircraft buttons, switches and outside door handles. We will be cleaning all leather and vinyl with mild soap and water.
If you have your own hand wipes with alcohol, please do not use them to clean any leather or vinyl parts as alcohol will damage the material.
We have hand sanitizer placed at the entrance of both our Bedford and Plymouth offices. Please feel free to use this and use it often. We are using alcohol to sanitize all ‘touch’ areas in our office including doors, flat surfaces, chairs, and tables. The team is sanitizing at throughout the day.
We do encourage you to wash your hands often or use hand sanitizer before and after your flights or SIM session.
Please consider using driving gloves while flying if you feel this will protect you better from any germs.
If you have a flight scheduled with us and you are not feeling well, please feel free to cancel the flight, even if it’s within 24 hours of your flight. During these next few weeks we will not be charging any type of cancellation fee.
Think about deciding whether to fly with us the same way you do your aeronautical decision making. Consider all of the variables before your flight (whether you have been around a lot of people, if you have traveled overseas in the past 2 weeks, or if you have any symptoms of the virus).
As of March 21st both of our locations are open, so you are welcome to schedule flights. Please check with us if you need a flight last minute to see if we can accommodate you.
If you have business trips scheduled and may feel more comfortable with private travel, let us know and we will try to accommodate your schedule with a SR22 and a mentor CFI.
We look forward to seeing you in Bedford or Plymouth soon!
Michael and Karin Goulian
