We’re creating a new position at MGAV. The Flight Training Advisor (FTA) will become a vital position within our company as someone who is responsible for working with new and current customers to make sure they are provided with excellent service.
The FTA will advise new customers, pair them with our pilots and coordinate our flight schedule. Our number one goal is to ensure all customers receive outstanding customer service to live up to our core values: Passion, Excellence, Integrity.

In-Focus: James completes Cirrus Factory Maintenance Training!

In keeping with our dedication to excellence, our technicians, just like our flight instructors are factory trained so that MGAV continues to strengthen our position as the “Cirrus experts” in New England. It’s uncommon for technicians to receive specialized factory training for light aircraft, but at MGAV we feel that investing in our employees to make them the best they can be directly benefits our customers as they become incredibly knowledgeable about the equipment we are maintaining.
James has been with Mike Goulian Aviation since July 2020 as a licensed A&P Technician. Prior to becoming a technician, James built a successful career in real estate over the course of 15 years. His decision to switch gears was due to a lifelong interest in mechanics and technology. The attention to detail and confidence that goes along with being an A&P sparked his interest most.
Even though James has been maintaining our fleet of Cirrus Aircraft under the expert guidance of Levi Fischer for over a year, we took the opportunity to send him to Cirrus school at the factory in Duluth, MN for an intense 2-week training this past August. Now, after completing the course to become a Certified Cirrus Technician, James has the benefit of “real world” experience working on our fleet combined with the theoretical systems knowledge gained while studying at the factory. This combination makes for a technical Superstar, which we believe James certainly is.
James plans to complete the SF (Vision Jet) training and go through the Continental, Lycoming, and Garmin programs in the future. He also plans to obtain his Private Pilot’s license to expand his aviation knowledge base. We are overjoyed with James’ latest accomplishments and can’t wait to see what the future holds for him!

Emergency procedures can be challenging and stressful for pilots of all experience levels. Regular study and practice can help reduce anxiety and help maintain familiarity. Additionally, effective use of automation can allow the pilot to focus more energy on assessment of the situation and completion of appropriate checklists.
With any aircraft emergency, we want to adhere to these four basic actions:
- Maintain Aircraft Control
- Analyze the Situation
- Take Appropriate Action
- Land as soon as Conditions Permit
