August 2022: VPO Visits KPYM, New CFII & More!
MGAV Knows How To Party!
Here’s a recap of our events this month!
Mike Goulian Aviation was thrilled to host the Vision Pilots and Owners this past week, August 23rd through the 25th. This 3-day event brought in 13 Vision Jets to Plymouth (KPYM) from all over the country.
We welcomed pilots and their family and friends on Tuesday evening with a cocktail reception at our hangar, giving them a taste of New England with lobster rolls and more.
Cirrus instructors and two of our CSIP’s, Prassuna and Sean, were tasked with instructional flights on Tuesday and Thursday, while Wednesday was all-day ground training at the Mirbeau Inn & Spa.
The spouses of pilots explored downtown Plymouth during the ground-training on Wednesday with the JetStream team. They visited our local historical landmarks: the Patuxet Museum, Plymouth Rock and the Mayflower II.
We had a pleasure hosting the VPO team and its members at our hangar and look forward to more memorable Cirrus events in the future!
MGAV Welcomes Stroll Pinehills & Life on the Bay at KPYM
On Thursday, August 18th, our Plymouth location hosted a conjoined event for Stroll Pinehills (Plymouth, MA) and Life on the Bay (Duxbury, MA), two south shore magazines that focus on local businesses and happenings in the area.
The event was designed to bring two communities together to support local businesses and to also celebrate the residents. With food and drinks provided by Tavern on the Wharf (Plymouth, MA) and fun giveaways from sponsors, it was a truly wholehearted event.
The MGAV family, including Max Mortell and Cliff Allen from Cirrus Aircraft, were thrilled to take guests inside two beautiful Cirrus aircraft, a SR22 and SF50 Vision Jet.
In-Focus: Meet Chris Porter, one of our new CFII’s
Chris Porter’s obsession with flying began when his father brought him to the Rhode Island air show in 1991. The Blue Angels, Bob Hoover and Sean D. Tucker became his heroes and provided all the inspiration necessary to pursue a life as a pilot. It was not until after completing his undergraduate degree at Northeastern University that he made good on his childhood ambition and became a certificated pilot.
Chris managed a Part 141 flight school in Rhode Island for a number of years before joining Mike Goulian Air Shows as the relocation pilot and marketing coordinator. He spent five years flying Michael’s Extra 330SC around the country, landing in 44 states and gaining invaluable flight experience.
Chris later pursued entrepreneurship specializing in marketing and video production in the aviation industry. While the business was successful, he missed flying too much and has re-engaged with flying, teaching transition courses and the Upset Training course at MGAV.
When not instructing, Chris enjoys cycling, photography and spending time with his wife and their two little boys.
