Tailwheel Training

At Mike Goulian Aviation, we offer tailwheel training that will increase your confidence with stick and rudder flying and help prepare you for your own backcountry adventures.

Course Progression:

We recommend you take each program in order, but we can customize your flight training to match your needs and previous experience.

i. Advanced airmanship

Our custom program designed to help pilots to regain their fundamental stick and rudder skills and understanding of aerodynamics and aircraft control. This course is designed to increase pilot confidence and proficiency.

ii. Tailwheel Endorsement

Learn the skills necessary to obtain a tailwheel endorsement, per FAR 61.31(i). You will learn to demonstrate safe and consistent 3- point landings, wheel landings, crosswind landings and go-arounds.

iii. Advanced Tailwheel Training

Learn the necessary skills to utilize a tailwheel airplane to its full potential. This course is designed to train a pilot to fly into short, unimproved, and non-standard fields while also instilling correct aeronautical decision making when flying in the backcountry.

iv. Husky Checkout Training

Complete your Aviat Husky checkout training with us! This course covers all of the ground and flight training material to familiarize the pilot with the aspects of flying a Husky with confidence. This course is a requirement for renting our Husky aircraft.

v. Backcountry Adventures

  • Instructor Rate: $400 per half-day
  • Aircraft Rate: Husky - $350 per hour
